About Jan Gundlach
Jan
Gundlach is a Michelin Chef with a collection of medals won
at international and national cooking competitions (Germany,
Singapore, Switzerland, Philippines).
Jan's culinary education is in Grande Cuisine.
He began his career in Germany and has held Executive Chef positions for the Mandarin Group
in Singapore, the Peninsula Hotels in Hong Kong and the Philippines, and the famous Raffles Hotel
in Singapore where he contributed to the chain's worldwide reputation for excellence in hospitality.
At
Raffles Jan led a team of 190 chefs and managed 14 restaurants.
Jan's love of Australia began in 1988 when he took up the position
of Executive Sous Chef at the Hayman Island resort.
After
living in Asia for several years he moved to Canberra. His return
to Australia was a coming home and an opportunity to fulfil
his long-held ambition to open a culinary business

- 1984 Youngest chef to win a gold medal at the Culinary Olympics, Frankfurt
- 1996 Member of Jury, Culinary Olympics, Berlin
